It was built in an uncommon Moorish style by [[Beketov, Alexey Nikolaevich | A.N. Beketov]] in 1896.

== History ==
Due to financial problems in 1903 [[Alchevsky, Dmitry Alekseevich | Professor Alchevsky]] sold his mansion to the Mutual Aid Society of Working Women, which opened a kindergarten in it.

In 1911-12 they added an additional spacious three-story building designed by the architect [[Piskunov, Mikhail Fedorovich | Piskunov]], and opened a gymnasium in the building.

In 1924 it was transformed into secondary school No. 1.

Currently, this building also houses the Ukrainian-British College.
